November Weather in Gulf Shores

November weather in Gulf Shores is mild and pleasant, with average daytime temperatures in the low 70°s early in the month and the upper 60°s by the end. Evenings are cooler, usually dipping into the 50°s, so a light jacket comes in handy after dark.
Humidity drops noticeably compared to September and October, which makes outdoor activities far more comfortable. Expect a few rainy days, but they are typically passing showers rather than all-day washouts.
Water temperatures cool to around 70° as the month goes on, so most visitors trade swimming for long beach walks, fishing, and sunset strolls.

1. Dine at Popular Restaurants Without the Summer Wait
In peak season, an hour-long wait for a table is common at the area’s most popular restaurants. In November, you can usually walk right in and grab a seat with a view.
LuLu’s and Tacky Jack’s sit almost directly opposite each other on the Intracoastal Waterway, so they’re easy to pair with an afternoon of boat watching. The Hangout is the go-to spot for casual beachside eats with your toes almost in the sand.

2. Eat Your Fill of Fresh Gulf Oysters
The saying goes that you should only eat oysters in months with the letter “r,” and November is right in the sweet spot. Cooler water temperatures mean plump, briny oysters are harvested right along the coast, and they’re available in lots of great Gulf Shores restaurants.
The Original Oyster House Boardwalk serves a variety of classic Southern-style seafood dishes, including Oysters Rockefeller. Sea N Suds, a casual seafood shack positioned right on the beach, is a great spot for a cold drink and a plate of fresh oysters on the half shell.
At Acme Oyster House, order a dozen chargrilled oysters, the New Orleans classic topped with herb butter and cheese. This place is also known for its tasty po’ boys and gumbo.
3. Explore Gulf State Park
With warm temperatures without intense heat and humidity, November is the ideal month to get outside at Gulf State Park. The park’s trails, lakes, and nature programs are far more enjoyable without the summer heat.
You can paddleboard or kayak on Lake Shelby, or bike or walk the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail, which winds through Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Look out for local wildlife as you explore, or head to the Nature Center to learn about coastal habitats.
Pack a picnic in your rental’s kitchen before you head out, and plan to stay for sunset over the dunes. Our guide to the best things to do at Gulf State Park has even more ideas.
4. Go Fishing
Fall is a favorite season for anglers on the Alabama Gulf Coast, and November brings some of the best pier fishing of the year. The Gulf State Park Pier in Gulf Shores stretches far out into the Gulf, putting you right where redfish, Spanish mackerel, and sheepshead pass through.
Bring your own gear or rent it on site, and arrive early in the morning when the bite is usually best. Learn more in our guide to fishing the Gulf State Park Pier.
If you’re looking for a more adventurous alternative, book a fishing charter and head out into the deep sea to see what you can catch. Our guide to deep-sea fishing has more details.
